Hit the Ball Longer and Straighter
The Speed Trap by Eyeline is a training aid that is supposed to help you hit the ball longer and straighter.
Similar to most other training aids, the Speed Trap can be used in a variety of ways to help your improve your swing. The great advantage to this training aid is that it can be used with the clubs you have in your bag in order to improve your swing path and strike. The removable speed rods helps train your path and the marker lines and shows the ideal locations for the ball to be placed. This is important because the further back the ball position the steeper the angle of attack must be to avoid contact with the base, giving an improved strike with iron, chip and pitch shots.
You can use all four speed rods or just one, depending on your objective or what you want to improve. You can also adjust the width of the speed rods to make practice a little easier or more difficult, but this is dependent on the level of your ability or again, what you are trying to improve.
Here are two tips while using the Speed Trap:
1. Trap the Ball
Catch the ball and then the turf. Create a nice crisp divot, hit it solid with great trajectory and spin. The Polycarbonate base tells you instantly if you are scooping the ball or hitting it fat.
2. Swing On-Plane
When you learn to swing the club between the Speed Rods, your club will be on plane and on path, which is great for eliminating a slice or hook and ultimately leading to straighter longer shots.
The Speed Trap is a great training aid that gives you the ability to improve your consistency of your path and your strike. It’ll give you instant feedback and helps you focus on the path of the club, rather than the ball.
