Need help coming up with a new year’s resolution? How about working to increase your distance on the course? Every golf player can agree that increasing speed and distance is never a bad thing – there is always room for improvement! Whether you are just starting out or have been playing for years, there are several different tips that can help you to gain more distance after you take your swing. Here are some tips and tricks to help get you started:
Stay relaxed. First and foremost, stay relaxed before you swing. If your mind is elsewhere, you will not be focused, and your swing will ultimately not have as much distance and speed as you would like for it to. Take a deep breath and swing confidently!
Try a wider stance. In order to increase your speed and distance, you need stability. Try taking a wider stance before you swing, which will also help to add some resistance in your hips and legs. A wider stance will also help with a proper shoulder rotation, as well!
Know your fundamentals. Take a moment to go over all of the basic golf fundamentals and see where you stand with them. Check on your overall set up – how is your stance? Is your grip strong enough, or is it too strong? Are you over-turning your hips during your swing? How is your posture? These are all great questions to ask yourself, as all of these will have a direct effect on the success of your swing.
Increase your strength and flexibility. For your overall game, not just your golf swing, you should work to increase your strength and flexibility. Go to the gym a few times a week and attend some yoga classes! This will ultimately help you to gain better distance and speed and keep you in good health along the way!
